losing fascination: refusal of the call

materials: oil pastel, graphite, cardboard, and brown paper

ideas: an orange rose is representative of fascination and interest. this drawing is about how

one can desire the other party to be fascinated with them, but can often miss the mark, letting the others' fascination slip through their fingers. this is typically used in a platonic sense, unlike the romantic connotation roses usually have. the rose is in color, because the person who is trying to achieve a standard they cannot, and putting all of their identity into said standard, making them simply a shadow of what they're trying to achieve

process- i started by taking pictures of me from an off angle, and then I chose two and drew a figure from a combination of those two. then i looked up a picture of a rose and drew it in oil pastels. i wanted more dimension, so i cut out the drawing and put it on corrugated cardboard. finally, i added another frame to add some more interest/color
